Tapas on Main in Bethlehem has a special place in my heart as a top date destination in the LV. Nestled in the heart of Bethlehem, its indoor/outdoor setting is perfect for enjoying summer dinners outside or intimate dinners within. They do have heaters set up during the winter, and eating outside in the cold next to one of them is a very cozy experience.

The restaurant’s ambiance is truly captivating, with dim lighting that sets the mood for a romantic evening. The interior aesthetic and vibe is like something out of a movie – soft light and shadows dance around and play off the wine-adorned walls, accompanied by the low murmur of content patrons paired off at small tables. Most of the two-person settings have a gentle ‘spotlight’ hanging over them, which really makes it seem like you and your date are in your own world.

Tapas has a stellar menu. They rotate parts of it in and out, but the core offering is a host of Spanish Tapas (small, shared plates), a solid choice of more traditional entrees, and a delightful drink menu.

The service is always attentive and eager to please, and they’ve often added a personal touch to special occasions like anniversaries with complimentary desserts. They do occasionally have live music inside the restaurant and it’s always perfectly matched to the general ambiance of the dining experience.

Go to Tapas on an empty stomach and expect to spend a leisurely two hours enjoying the experience in a true, relaxed Spanish fashion.

I may be a bit biased here as my wife and I did get married at this venue (and we’d absolutely recommend it for that purpose as well)!

11. A Cali Burrito Picnic (Allentown)

Now I’ll let you in on a little secret that just so happens to be the ideal romantic date for my wife and me. Here’s the step-by-step:

  1. Pack a blanket and some water bottles, or a few beers or alcoholic seltzers if you’re in the mood and not in a rush.
  2. Go to Cali Burrito in Allentown (actually right down the road from Youell’s Oyster House).
  3. Order ahead or once you’re there, but take it to go. The food will come out quickly!
    • We recommend getting the Old Monterey Burrito with whatever “hookups” you’re in the mood for, or the Santa Barbara Tacos.
    • Absolutely get whatever House Queso they’re serving that day. All of them are fantastic.
    • Every order comes with a gigantic side order of chips included.
    • Make sure you hit up their salsa bar before you leave – you can mix and match between several different heat levels and flavors, fill up a few to-go salsa cups, and throw them in your bag.
  4. Drive (or walk) across the street to the Allentown Rose Gardens. If you’re driving, we recommend heading to the far side of the gardens and parking next to the Allentown Parks & Recreation Office right here. There’s a small parking lot after you turn in.
  5. There’s a 1.3 mile loop running around and through the rose gardens – you can explore a bit and set up at a free picnic table, on one of the terraced walls around the garden, or pick a prime lounging spot and lay your blanket out.
  6. Eat your Cali Burrito way faster than you mean to because it’s so good, and crack open a few drinks if you have them.
  7. Once you’re done and have digested a bit, we highly recommend actually walking the full 1.3 mile trail. It’s drop-dead gorgeous and will make you feel better about yourself after all of that queso.
  8. Bonus points if you have and bring your dog with you to join in on your date!
